Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

At St John’s Primary School the teaching of PSHE plays an important role in our appreciation of our own abilities and health as well as the development of all children into healthy global citizens. We believe it is important that children are encouraged to challenge themselves, and develop a healthy life-style. Alongside this, our children will acquire a range of skills, which will allow them to flourish in other areas of the curriculum or future roles within the wider community. Our curriculum gives children the relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves and others. With strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health.

At St. John's, we are partners with Keep Stoke Smiling and our Early Years team use Brilliant Brushers to teach oral hygiene in school.

PSHE/RSE Parental Consultation

As you may already be aware, PSHE and RSE Policy Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), along with Health Education, is now a statutory part of the National Curriculum. Schools are required to consult with parents when developing and reviewing their policies for Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), which will inform schools’ decisions on when and how certain content is covered.

We appreciate it if parents and carers could share their thoughts on the policy. The policy can be found below. Please email the school office office@stjohsncea.org.uk, for the attention of Mrs Bowyer and Mr Buckley if you have any concerns or queries.

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health,

as it goes well with your soul.”
