At St. John’s, we value the importance of a high quality computing curriculum. We strongly believe that ‘computational thinking’ is a skill children must be taught in order to fully participate effectively in an increasingly digital world. Technology is a significant part of everyone’s daily life and children should be at the forefront of new developments.

Our computing curriculum ensures that our pupils are digitally literate – able to use information and communication technology to fully express themselves and develop their ideas. We aim for all children to use technology both effectively, being equipped with the skills and knowledge that they need and safely. It is vital that our children know how to stay safe online, understanding the potential risks and consequences of using the internet.

By the time our children leave St. John’s they will have gained key knowledge and skills in three main areas:

• Computer science (programming and understanding how digital systems work)
• Information Technology
• Digital Literacy (evaluating digital content and using technology safely and respectfully)
